(5/10/10) Senator Addobbo has introduced S.7592 which would place a moratorium on hydrofracking in New York State until 120 days after the EPA releases a study on the effects of hydrofracking on water and public health. This is a very significant threat to hydrofracking happening here any time soon. Speaker Silver has also endorsed this bill. I wouldn't be surprised if they push this through in the last few hours of the Senate and Assembly Session. I'll fight it until the end but I believe that they have the votes to pass this legislation.
(4/23/10)The DEC announced a seperate review for communities with "Filtration Avoidance Determinations" to address the unique issues related to protecting the New York City and Syracuse drinking water supplies.
